THERESE BABINEAU
Beyond doors and into Nature, I am home. Rambling down a wet, grassy trail or walking meditatively through morning fog, my eyes scan ahead. Hearing the sounds of the waves and winged birds, I survey the landscape around me. Leaving worries behind, I feel calm and at peace. My kinship with Nature deepens. These are moments I cherish.
This series started as a beach adventure with my dog. I paint primarily from photographs. The paintings entitled, “Entrance to Kehoe Beach” and “Lone Cow,” were created from digital color prints taken with my Nikon SLR camera. The painting entitled, “Kehoe Beach,” comes from a black-and-white print, taken with a Holga 120 camera. The cameras I use invite me to explore the landscapes and seascapes, moment to moment, sight to site, with curiosity and purpose.
Back in my studio, I recall the quality of light, sounds of the wind and waves while viewing my photographic prints. It is time to paint…
I hope you enjoy viewing the pastel paintings.
